The prescription of drugs is ineffective at best for treating the children and the teens in depression as the effectiveness of SSRI’s (antidepressants) are being bought into the spotlight with a new study claiming that out of 5,260 trails over 65% of them are directly funded by drug companies. This is really shocking to find from the study that many are theorizing which would be more worsening that they not being primarily funded by the companies and they are making it look bad and embarrassing.
This study could be a huge blow to the ferociously guarded reputation of SSRI’s with a number of children and teens using antidepressants globally.
“The balance of risks and benefits of antidepressants for the treatment of major depression does not seem to offer a clear advantage in children and teenagers,” said Professor PengXie, study co-author from The First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, in a statement. How long are Americans going to allow the corporation to extort the mentally vulnerable for profit with such serious side effects like suicidal tendencies, vision, and erectile dysfunction and blurred vision?
The Journal of Clinical Psychiatry stated that over 69% of the people taking selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors (SSRI’s) and all this comes to light after recent study, the primary type of antidepressants have never even suffered from major depressive disorder (MDD). It is found that 38% have never met the criterion for MDD, obsessive compulsive disorder, social phobia, and panic disorder or generalized anxiety disorder in a lifetime, yet is recommended and takes the pills that accompany them anyway.
Over 70% of the people taking SSRI’s in the united states don’t require and the people that do need some sort of MDD treatment are taking pills that are clinically ineffectual at best then what does it say about our value our current health care system? The society today is such profit off preoccupation with instant indulgence as when we are going to the start demanding solutions to our health problems, as opposed to allowing companies to profit off on symptom treatment.
